I know there are people reading this in other parts of the country and other parts of the world. Today, there are no words that can describe the extent of the disaster that befell the Gulf Coast... because no one knows the extent of it, yet. I'm certainly keeping them in my thoughts.

Years ago, I wrote a song called "Don't Let It Hold You Back". Guess it really applies to our friends in the South today.

Here in New York City, it's just one of those "gray days".

And, it looks like that whole, vicious weather system has moved well to the north and east of New York City already. So, I'm thinking we're gonna have three days of beautiful weather here in town for the weekend. So, I will see you in Central Park on Saturday... all afternoon.

"People on the Hill" - Central Park

.

And, then I'll head to the "Storyteller's Hill" in Riverside Park on Sunday afternoon.

Oh, yeah... and, on Monday (Labor Day) I'm probably gonna put my guitar on my shoulder and hang down by the river near the "Kayak Dock" at 71st Street, like I did Fourth of July weekend. So, if you're staying in town this weekend, I hope I see you at one of these gigs. We'll have our usual good time.

If you're new here at this website... why don't you take a couple of minutes to look through the "Archives" and see what we've been up to around here. And, maybe take a minute to jump into the "Forum" to say "Hi".

I'm hoping that I'm gonna have some really big news in the next 4 or 5 days about the VOICES TOGETHER concert in January. There's so much riding on just a couple of things right now.

If you don't know what I'm talking about... this concert is part of a sincere effort to get as much help as we possibly can directly to the innocent civilian families, especially the children, who are living through the nightmare of the war in Iraq.

The suffering is going on right now, this minute as you're reading this. So, we hope to get this thing up by January and get the direct help to people who need it immediately after that. We're gonna try to empower the widowed mothers and those whose lives have been torn apart... y'know, give 'em a chance to get them back on their feet. We'll try put some smiles back on the faces of the children who are living through the nightmare today.

Y'know what?

Click on this logo and it'll take you to a site where you can find out all about it, and even donate some dollars... today.

The whole idea behind this thing is "ordninary people, helping ordinary people". And already, ordinary people like you and me have been showing up for this effort in the most extraordinary way. $100 donations, $25 donations... even a $10 donation from an eleven year old who hangs out with us in Central Park every weekend. We're hoping that some angels who can afford it are gonna come through with a couple of 5 or 10 thousand dollar gifts... or more. Then, we'll be able to promote this concert by saying that ALL of the production costs have been taken care of, so the proceeds from every ticket bought will go directly to the people who need help the most.

You'll see.

It's gonna be something very special. And, you can be a special part of it by helping now... at this stage of the project. EVERYBODY who helps now is being listed as a "producer" of the concert on the "Concert" page at the VOICES website.

Hey listen, I gotta run.

But, remember... you can always email me personally by hitting the "Contact" button right over there. (I read every single email I get, even though I don't have time to answer every one. I try to answer as many as I can. But, it's impossible. Just know that if you send me a message about song requests or suggestions or anything, really... I will read it.)

See you guys back here tomorrow.

If you're in or around New York City, I hope I see you this weekend.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
