Hey... thanks for stopping by the website. There are people reading this across the country and in different parts of the world. But, if you are in New York City and are staying in town this weekend, I wanna tell you what's goin' on musically this weekend. You might wanna make a point of heading out to Central Park tomorrow.

"The Hill" in Central Park
First... tonight (Friday) I'm gonna be down at Pier 45 in Hudson River Park for another in the "Sunset Concert Series". My good friend and partner, Roger Bartlett, is gonna join me again tonight. We'll play from around 7 to 9 pm. It's one of the last times we'll be playing down there, so even if the weather is lookin' a little dicy... screw it! I'm heading down there anyway.
Then, tomorrow... Dodger is gonna head out to Central Park for a while. He's gonna sit in like he often does, but tomorrow's gonna have a little extra special significance.
Y'see, Dodge and I have been friends and have been making music together for a looooong time, now. It's kind of a "fox hole" bond, in a way. When you walk out on as many stages as we have together in as many different venues... when you've been in the studio and recorded as many songs as we have... when you've co-written songs with someone... man!
Y'know, every time I've walked out in front of a sold-out Merkin Concert Hall audience, I've always been able to look to my right... and, there's Dodger.

Well, after years of making music in New York City, Dodger and his wife are moving across the country next month. This weekend will be one of the last times you're gonna get to have fun with Dodge in person. (Except for the times I fly him back here for gigs... which will be as often as I possibly can!)
Still, every time I get to play music with him for the rest of the summer is gonna be something special for me. (I thank the moon technology is such that we'll be able to record stuff and develop stuff by sending music files over the internet now.) But, Vegas is a long ways away and it's not gonna be the same.
Hey! If you've enjoyed Dodger's music, if you own the CDs he's played on and they've given you joy, if you've seen him in concert and he's made you laugh or smile... try to make it out to one of these gigs this weekend, okay?
SAY THANKS... and, "So long, for now."
Here's an inadequate tribute to a great talent, Roger Bartlett.
.
Let's see... oh yeah, and weather-permitting, I'll be back at the same location in Riverside Park on Sunday.
Oh hey! Listen, if you are new here... go look through the "Archives" okay? Check out the updates from the past few weeks and get an idea of what we're doing around here. And, if you feel like it, you can jump in the "Forum", too. But, you don't hafta always be talkin' about Iraq and politics and stuff. You can share about music, movies, love, sex, each other... whatever.
Anyway, listen... quickly, before I get into anything else... um, about the VOICES TOGETHER concert that a small group of great friends are helping me plan for January.
It's really starting to come together! Early next week, I'm gonna announce the...
VOICES TOGETHER WEBSITE!
Okay...
What is it? The VOICES TOGETHER Concert?
Basically, it will be an intimate but extraordinary songwriters circle at the Hammerstein Ballroom, with some very special artists sharing their music for a vital cause... to get direct help to as many of the innocent civilians, the ordinary people in Iraq, who are being so badly hurt by this war. It will evening of music, laughter, some tears... but, most importantly, it will be a hall filled with good people who care about making a real difference in this world. It will be a room full of people who won't ignore the reality of this war, and who know that, while war is always abhorant and immoral, this war is especially so... and that civilians and children are NOT collateral damage. Somebody's got to take care of them.
"It's just us."

If you wanna get your heart around the spirit of the thing, here's a link to a recent update. Go ahead and click on this link for the update from July 27th. And, then come back and go ahead and click on this link, too.

Okay, see you around town. If you see me on the streets of Manhattan today... say "Hey"!
Okay?
And, hopefully you'll make it to one of the gigs this coming weekend to hang out with me and my guitar for a while. Friday at the "Sunset Concert Series" on Pier 45. Saturday in Central Park, or Sunday in Riverside Park.
Thanks again.
