Well, the weekend is here. Thanks so much for stopping by here today.

Tonight, between 7 and 9 I'm gonna be down on Pier 45 in the Village, at the end of Christopher Street, for the "Sunset Concert Series". Gotta hang and make some music with the "below 14th street crowd".

Then tomorrow, of course, I'm gonna be in Central Park.

There are people who read this website all across the country and in different parts of the world. But, if you are in or around New York City (and stay in town this weekend), I hope I see you out there in Central Park tomorrow. I have a feeling it's gonnna be one of those "soft" days... a little cloudy, a little quieter than many Saturdays in the park. I'm really kinda lookin' forward to it.

"The Hill" in Central Park

I have been going, going, going this week. We were in Washington D.C. on Monday to talk to several different groups of people and Senator Pat Leahy's office about the concert project. And since I got back to town, it's been one thing after another... all good. But, alot all in one week. Last night I wound up doing the Joey Reynolds Show on WOR radio after all.

The best part was, I got to talk about the January "Voices Together" concert for the first time, even though it is in it's very early stages of development. And, I stuck around for an additional segment to meet a man named Jimmie Briggs. He's a journalist and author who's just written a book called "Innocents Lost: When Child Soldiers Go to War". I felt like we had a very open and genuine discussion, and natural meeting of the minds right there on the radio and that always feels good... to be sitting next to an intelligent, articulate man who also "gets it". I'll be starting his book today. You guys might wanna pick it up and start a discussion in the "Forum".

Now... like I said yesterday, the music in Riverside Park on Sunday is really something that is "up in the air". I'll let you guys know tomorrow if it's gonna happen anymore. Something's not feeling really good about it. Alot of the people who said they really wanted it to happen, aren't showing up. Last week, we heard complaints like the early days of the Central Park concerts... even one woman last Sunday who kinda got right up in my face. I'm just not about that.

So, a good friend of mine suggested that maybe I just oughta head out to Central Park on both days of the weekend if it feels right and the weather permits. I'm considering that.

I don't know.

We'll see.

But, yeah... I WILL be in The Village tonight and I WILL be in Central Park tomorrow.

Listen, if you wanna know what all the talk around this benefit concert is about... VOICES TOGETHER ...or, if you wanna get your heart around the spirit of the thing, here's a link to a recent update from this website. Go ahead and click on this link for the update from July 27th. And, then come back and go ahead and click on this link, too.

Click here to get a general idea of what we're planning and why.

I will update you all on the progress of the thing regularly here on the homepage, and my friends and colleagues and I certainly welcome any positive suggestions and comments in the "Forum". I'm really interested in getting as many good people together as I can that actually wanna take some action and do something Good to make a real difference in this world... one child at a tme... one heartache at a time.

Hope I see you this weekend... I'll be the one with the guitar on his shoulder.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
