Well, I woulda sent out a BIG email to everyone this morning, but the email system is temporarily down. I'll get a message out to the thousands of people on that list as soon as I can. But...
There will be no concert in Riverside Park this Sunday... okay? (Spread the word if you know anyone who's planning on heading out there on Sunday. It seems we have to move the gig to another location in the park. Yeah... they got 3 complaints last weekend from peope in that section of the park. (Whenever you try something new, there's always someone, y'know?) don't worry, though. The administrator of Riverside Park, K.C. Sahl, is a good guy and I'm sure we'll work something out. Y'know? If you think the idea of music in Riverside is a good idea, why don't you drop them an email and let 'em know it.
The weather is looking kinda unsettled for this whole weekend. But, quickly, here's the deal for music.
Barring any big thunderstorms this evening, I'm gonna be joined once again on Pier 45, at the end of Christopher Street, by lead-guitarist and fellow escapee Roger Bartlett, as another installment of the "Sunset Concert Series" in Hudson River Park. (You can always check back here in the afternoon if it's gonna be called on account of the weather.) Man! I'm really looking forward to playing with Dodger again.
Tomorrow (Saturday)... of course... I will be in Central Park all afternoon!

Might be a little hot and humid. But, there's always a nice breeze by the Lake and lots and lots of shade, especially from about 2:00 on.
Anyway, listen... thanks for always showing up.
And... THANK YOU to everyone who has already reached out to Elissa at the Global Medical Relief Fund. She's one of the wonderful people we're planning this concert around for this coming January. Y'know, already such a good bunch of committed and good-hearted people are coming together to really make a difference in this effort.
James Marino, Mimi Evans, Dennis Riley... and, the circle is growing.
This concert is gonna be something special... put up on a stage as inexpensively as we can make it happen. Marketed and advertised, nationally, with YOUR help. Word of mouth... email... person to person.
We're gonna need you... all of you.
In my heart, I see it a lot like "The Hill" in Central Park. Y'know, it's all about sharing music, laughs, smiles... and, a few tears. But, it's all good.
It's just us.
Y'see, it's bad enough that we have elected servants of the American People with no integrity, who think nothing of deception and duplicity to achieve their own misguided ideological ends. But, because of their shortsightedness and total lack of wisdom, hundreds of thousands of innocent lives are being destroyed. Fathers and mothers, being killed and horribly maimed for life... children... children being wounded and killed. Caught in the crossfire of something they have nothing to do with. With no end in sight... no clear way of resolving this, other than withdrawal and a fall into civil war and chaos. Every time you hear that 50 Iraqi security forces were killed, that's another 50 fathers and sons. Everytime you hear that 37 more were "hurt" in a bombing, imagine the kind of "hurt" they're talking about.
Yeah, it's a mess. A mess many people saw coming.
"David, leave politics out of it."
Gladly.
Let's shut up... and, HELP these people. They are caught in a nightmare.
.
This concert, and the group of friends and colleagues that is putting it together, is called VoicesTogether. (Together... that means you, too.) It's just us. We can really make a difference in these peoople's lives, and therefore make a real difference in the world.
You wanna fight terrorism?
Bandage a child's head.
You wanna be part of the real solution in the Middle East?
Fly a person to the United States and repair the leg that was blown off, or the eyes that were shredded, or the face that was burned when the US bombed Baghdad in 2003.
That's what this remarkable woman is doing... right now. Today.

Elissa Montanti
And, we're gonna help her.
In fact... you can help... RIGHT NOW!
Nothing as abstract as writing a check. Here's a list of things Elissa says she needs right now. (More kids who need help are flying here this Tuesday.)
Seriously. Email Elissa here...
info (at) globmed.org
...and ask which of these items she needs most, and mail 'em over to her. Ask if she needs anything else. If you know someone who works for Direct TV, see if you can get for them for free. Go ahead.
It's just us.
Playstation
Nintendo
Detergent
Cookies
Direct TV (Hmmm. Any of you work for this company?)
A computer
Carpets
Cordless Phone
Books and Videotapes in Arabic - for the kids and their parents

(And this one is BIG!)
Gift Certificates for (Anyone can make this kind of a gift) Burger King, McDonald's, attractions and tickets such as to a zoo, and grocery store certificates.
Okay, that's it for today. I'm gonna definitely jump into the "Forum" (message board) sometime today. It's even more interesting in there today. (Predictable, but interesting.)
Hope I see you on the Pier tonight...
... or, in Central Park on Saturday.
And, if you have any ideas about how you can help with the VoicesTogether Concert, don't hesitate to drop me an email by hitting the "Contact" button over there.
Thanks again.
