Hey all... how're you feelin' today? Some of you should feel pretty damned good. And, I wanna say, "Thank You"... to you.

Let me explain. Y'see? It really is getting to be a small world. That scares a lot of people. In the wake of the London bombings, it seems that the American television news media has really taken a larger stake in making people afraid... they hope you'll watch the news more, I guess. Big scary graphics, bold red letters, a dynamic ominous-sounding musical score behind shocking images. Whew! Good television! (And, of course, Ha! At the same time, all reasonable people understand the logic behind the Bush administration's sustained and concerted effort to keep you afraid.)

But, for many of us, the world is getting smaller... and, that's actually a very, very cool thing. It all depends on who you are, how you view the world and how you choose to live each day. I mean, for example... I play in Central Park, in the middle of New York City, every Saturday afternoon. Thousands and thousands of New Yorkers like to hang out with me on "The Hill" over the summer. But, thousands of people from all over the world get to hang out there, too. It's all about music and laughs. Then, alot of those people write their email addresses in that little book, and wind up hangin' out here at this website. Now, the internet is shrinking the world exponentially.

It's very cool.

Well... a few years back, there was a guy from the UK who happened by "The Hill" in Central Park. Weeks later, our webmaster James Marino received a audio tape in the mail, and it turns out this guy is a radio personality on a drive-time radio show for the BBC. His name is Dominc King and he was playing my song, "Crazy on the Same Day", on his show. (He just wanted me to know about it.) Although we've never really met or hung out, he sounded like an awfully nice guy. And, I just thought it was very cool that people driving home from work in England were jammin' to "Crazy..."

Dominic King

Well, Dominic and I have been in touch over the internet for various reasons over the last couple of years, just friendly... just "mates", as he puts it. And, right after the recent terrorist attacks in London, he gave me a shout. I mentioned to you guys, here at the website and in the park, that we had received hundreds of emails of support in the immediate aftermath of September 11th, 2001 from all over the world. I was reminded of how good it felt that other people cared, and that now, as it says in the song... "We take turns being angels for one another."

Now, it was our turn.

So, I posted Dominic's BBC email address.

dominic.king (at-sign) bbc.co.uk

Yesterday, I got an email with an mp3 file attached. You can all give it a listen if you feel like it. You might feel the earth shrinking under your feet, bringing us all a little closer together... I hope. Y'see, Dominic read a bunch of your emails on the radio to the people of England.

"People on the Hill" support the people of London

Very Good.

Y'know, my friends and I are planning this big benefit concert for the winter to help the innocent civilians whose lives are being torn apart by the war in Iraq. I hope this message from Dominic King, and things like it, begin to set the tone... begin to spread the feeling that, yes... YOU can make a difference... a tiny difference, a huge difference? Doesn't really matter, does it? We can make a difference for Good. Soooo many innocent, ordinary men, women and especially the children... the children who are being orphaned, so badly injured... suffering so terribly... are being largely ignored by the people in Washington who are responsible for their misery. And, because they are also being ignored by so much of the American "news" media, they are not on the minds of so many good American people.

We wanna help them. Because the world is getting smaller. And, because we're all standing on it... living on it.

And, because we can.

There are people doing it. Really making a difference. Really helping. Go back in the recent "Archives" on this site. I've introduced you to one of them already. I will be introducing you to more in the coming weeks.

I know. Most of us would like to help, but really just don't know how?
We'll be letting you know, soon... very definite, very practical, and some very easy ways you can make a real difference in the lives of other people... even on the other side of our planet. Not just something as abstract as a "LIVE-8" Concert or giving money to THE HUMONGOUS FUND.

Real ways, We The People, can help... people.

Thanks for showing up, New York.

Keep checking back here every day, okay? And, spread the word to your friends and family to start checking in here, too. And, remember...

...we're also gonn have a lotta fun on this road, a lotta smiles, a lotta music, a lotta laughs... some tears. But, man! It's worth it! Doncha think!?

Hey listen, YOU can jump into the "Forum"(message board) over there and talk about wahatever you want... music, movies, world events, Love, sex, each other... whatever. That message board is there for you.

I might pop in there later today.

Anyway... thanks again. You guys are sooooo cool.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
