Well, if you ask me (and, I know that you didn't.) But...
An artist is simply anyone who kinda makes creating and sharing Beauty or laughter their version of a religion.
A fool is a person who lives as if Love can be manipulated, cheated or compromised.
A wise person recognizes all he does not know. But, an idiot thinks he has an answer for everything, but most often won't answer the question asked.
A person is blind if they don't see Goodness and Beauty every single day. A person is truly deaf if they are so impressed with the intellect that they can't hear the quieter voice in their heart.
The greatest punishment for a liar or the demagogue is that they can never truly believe anyone else's statements... or motives.
If size and strength truly mattered in Life on this planet, there would be a Tyrannosaurus on Broadway.
A materialist is a person who sees the outside as most important. But, a realist sees all of Life from the inside... out.
A person is young, as long as they still know they have room to grow.
A person is old when they stop dreaming, stop playing... and, have lost the capacity for wonder and possibility. (At 87 my friend, Sid Bernstein, is one of the youngest men I know.)
A politician places his party, his ideology or his own career first. But, a patriot puts his country first and it's interest's above his own. (Oh man, I don't like politicians!)
A humanitarian tries, however falteringly, to place all human beings above both politics and patriotism, and above his own interests. A hero succeeds.
The greatest problem with ignorance is that the person suffering from it never suspects it. (I know. I lived like that for a long time... and, still can!)
A scientist asks, "How does this work?" and is never content not-knowing. But, a philosopher asks, "Why is this so?" and is sometimes content not-knowing.
Genuine humility is to be of "unpretending character". (You don't have to pretend to be something you're not... but just as importantly, you don't have to pretend not to be something you are.)
And... music and laughter actually heal. (I've seen it.)
.
.
Hey, thank for always showing up at "The Hill" in Central Park. What a life! I'm a very, very lucky man!

Hey listen, if you were having a hard time accessing this page in about the past week... it's not you! I had the same problem yesterday. Sometimes things just get a litle funky on the internet. I have no idea why. (I'm not a real computer guy.) I write songs.
Um... but, I will be sending out a BIG email tomorrow. I've got some things to tell you guys about. Y'know, I've gotta nail down a location for music in Riverside Park this weekend. And, I have some news about a good, good friend of mine that you all know, and I'd like to share it with you.
In the meantime, I know there are people reading this across the country and in different parts of the world. Everyone is welcome in the "Forum" to talk about whatever you want... music, movies, world events, politics... you're even free to trash the hell out of me! I promised not to censor anyone in there, and I'm sticking to it. So, have fun.
Now... about the BIG benefit concert we're planning.
Like I said before, on Monday I'm heading down to D.C. to meet with the people of CIVIC, the organization that Marla Ruzicka started, and some people from a certain U.S Senator's office. We wanna see how they can help us facilitate the concert we're planning to help CIVIC, and Elissa Montanti's Global Medical Relief Fund.
Elissa is truly an angel.
She's got two kids who were very badly hurt in the Tsunami disaster arriving... probably today... to get the medical treatment they need.
.
Believe it or not, Elissa tells me these two kids... Tara and Hamdani, are the first two children from that tragedy to make it to the U.S. for medical treatment. And, Elissa is the reason.
She will be telling the country about her work on the TODAY SHOW very soon. Check back in here and I will let you know when, as soon as she tells me.
And, then her focus will be turning to the children being wounded and maimed in Iraq. Elissa will be focusing on the children because she is working closely with Shriners Childrens Hospitals. CIVIC, meanwhile, has been trying get an accurate and honest assessment of all of the civilian casualties in that war, while helping as many as they can in whatever ways that they can. These poor people are being overlooked by our government, the news media, and for the most part, the American people.
The concert we're planning is for January. We wanna help these people... directly, as soon a s possible. And, that's what Elissa and CIVIC are doing. So, we're gonna help them... y'know, help them.
Okay?
Y'know what? You can catch up on this project and find out some very simple way you can help... right now. I put it all in a recent update. Click on the link.
Get a general idea of what we're planning here.
Maybe the wind is changing.
Anyway... I'll see you guys on Friday night at Pier 45, or in Central Park this Saturday. (Maybe Riverside Park on Sunday.)
Thanks again.
