Beautiful day here in New York City.

A lot of people went out of town. Hope they're having a great time.

Me?

I'm gonna spend the day singing in Central Park with whoever shows up there today. Sing the songs for the sake of the songs. Who knows, might be one of those days with a few surprises. One of the really wonderful things about staying in town on long holiday weekends, is that feeling of... ahhhhhh. No place to go... nothing to do... no trains to catch... no traffic to fight. I always feel bad for those who are having a really relaxing time out on Long Island or down at the Jersey Shore, and in the back of their minds is the inevitable traffic they're gonna face getting back on Monday or Tuesday. It's kinda the feeling I used to have on Sundays when I was a kid, trying to completely enjoy a TV show on Sunday night, knowing I had school the next day, but all the time in the back of my mind was the fact that I didn't do my homework.

Ahhhh... not, today.

Today... I'm just gonna sing in Central Park... all afternoon.

Who knows? Might be one of those days with a few surprises.

Sorry about the rainout at the Pier last night. Got a call from the people over in Hudson River Park at around 5:30, cancelling the gig. Kinda typical of a summer thunderstorm, I guess. It didn't rain uptown where I was, but I saw several taxis around town that were soaking wet. So, I'm assuming it poured downtown near the Pier.

Kind of a boring update today, because I'm just gonna head out to Central Park a little early.

If you are staying in town, why not come by and hang with me for a while. I've made some of my sweetest memories out there.

Anyway, I'll be there today.

THEN... TOMORROW (Sunday)... for the very first time, I'm gonna head into Riverside Park for an afternoon of music. (If you are one of those people who got a little pissed off when the concerts moved from Sunday to Saturday this year, I hope I see you out there this weekend!) Look... it's gonna be the same kinda gig, different hill.

It's right inside the entrance at 103rd Street. Hope it turns into something cool. Y'know? If you wanna know exactly where it is... go to the "Archives" over there and click on the June 30th update. There's a map!

So, what else?

Well, of course, I will be updating the "News from Iraq" in the "Forum" today. That "Forum" (message board) is for you guys, too. Go on in there and talk about music, movies, politics, Love, sex, world events.... whatever you want. Maybe you guys can even meet each other in there. (It's happened before.)

Just be cool to each other.

Listen, I think I told you all yesterday that very soon, probably by August 1, I will have whole lot more information about the benefit concert we're putting together over the winter to help the ordinary civilians in Iraq... the mothers and fathers, children... whose ives are being destroyed by the war.

But, if you want you can...

...click on this link to find out what it's about.

Okay, gotta run. Maybe I'll stop in the "Forum" later today. If you're going away, have a great weekend. If you're not... I hope I see you around town this weekend.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
