Hey... gonna be an interesting week.

Listen, if you were out on "The Hill" this past Saturday... thanks again. I'm the luckiest man alive. Last Saturday was just another amazing day... spontaneous, fun, meaningful. I always say, if any of my musician friends could strap on a guitar and have just one day like the day I had with all of you this weekend, they would remember it for the rest of their lives.

I get to experience that every week when the weather's right.

Man!

Y'know, when good people get together around something like that, to hang out and share music, the energy is tangible. I know that you can feel it, sitting in the middle of the crowd. But, standing in front of you guys? When I'm holding my guitar in front of that much human energy, to say that I experience joy, is like saying someone standing in front of a tidal wave... experiences moisture.

Thanks.

Oh yeah, if you put your email address in the book this weekend, it has been added to the BIG list today, okay? If you're new here... welcome. Take a look around, check out the "Archives", see what we've been up to. Stop in the "Forum" (message board) and say, "Hey." There are people from all across the country and around the world who stop by this site every day. It's kinda cool. You can meet other people, talk about music, Life, Love, sex, movies, world events... whatever. But, keep checking back in here everyday, okay? I'm gonna be doing a lot of really cool things this summer.

We're gonna have a lot of fun this summer. But, also... I hope we're all gonna feel good doing something Good, too.

Like I said, I'm gonna have a busy week. I'm meeting with some people about the project I'm working on with some great friends for the Fall... a concert to help the ordinary people in Iraq who are suffering so much because of the WAR we started in that part of the world.

Regardless of your politics, I'm gonna be asking for help from oridnary people like you. Y'know? The overwhelming number of civilians, men, women children... babies... who are being killed, horribly wounded and orphaned is morally obscene and unconscienable. I hoping the concert we're planning will be an evening of wonderful music to raise awareness and a shitload of money.

(I'm also hoping to ask a lot of genuinely wonderful artists to help out.)

No... this is NOT about politics. In fact, NO politicians of ANY stripe will be invited to publically lend their support. (We will, of course, accept their money as private citizens!) But, no one will be permitted to make any hay with this effort. This will be about ordinary peoople like you and me... helping people who need help.

(Look, if you supported this war... it's my sincere feeling that you should be first in line to help these people.)

I will be letting you all know how you can help as this thing progresses. We're planning a concert to raise money for an organization called Mercy Corps... one of the few humanitarian organizations that are on the ground in Iraq, helping these people directly. (Most of the other organizations have pulled out because it just too dangerous.)

But, these people need help... desperately.

Maybe it's time for the rest of us ordinary people in America to do something extraordinary for those people.

Gotta run right now. I'll probably stop in the "Forum" later. Maybe I'll see you in there. Maybe I'll see you on the streets of Manhattan today.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
