DOH!
Forgot to tell you guys... I think there's a wedding scheduled for Hernshead ("The Hill") today at 3:00.
So, if a happy couple shows up, we'll hafta take a break while they get hitched okay? We'll pick it up again after their ceremony, okay? So, I'm gonna try to start exactly at 12:30 so we'll get a few hours in first. Then, y'know, maybe we can share some more music between, like, 4:30 and 6:00.
If, for some reason, it turns into a total bust, then maybe we'll call tomorrow a rain-date.
Cool?
(Completely forgot about that until this morning.)
Got a feeling today is gonna be a special day.

Hey listen, thanks to all of you who showed up on Pier 45 last night for the "Sunset Concert". The sky behind me actually looked pretty spectacular all night, hah? (Yeah, but I get to spend a couple of hours looking into all of your sunset-lit faces. So, I guess it's a trade-off.) Y'know, you often hear me say, "I'm a lucky man." I think that when you've been some of the places I've been, (Many I wouldn't wanna fly over today) ...have really hit bottom and lost everything (Although it's getting to be a very, long time ago) I feel it's true what they told me... that a person really gets to look at this Life in a way they never could before. I know that's happened for me.
Don't wanna say too much.
But, thank you... to all of those who "get it"! I feel like I'm takin' it all in, and learning so much every day. I guess my job is to write about the journey, and put it in a song.
Anyway... also... thanks to the people who are emailing the digital pictures they've taken out there in the park. Very cool. I'm gonna talk to James this week about maybe creating a page where we can post your shots... hopefully, not so many of me playing the guitar. (Damn! I've got enough of those!) But, y'know, pictures of the special little things that happen out in Central Park and down on the Pier when we're sharing time and music. And, pictures of you guys, "The People on the Hill". Like this kid, who was dancing like a wild man a while back... sent in by someone named Elena-Beth.

Hey, I know there are people reading this across the country and around the world. Thanks to those of you who have already emailed your support for our "Concert" project that we're working on. (I'm getting messages from all over.)
It's a project I'm working on with some of my good friends and colleagues. (Actually, at this stage, they are doing most of the work. Organizing something like this entails proposals, and not-for-profit-status, and all kinds of stuff... stuff I'm not well-equipped for. I write songs.)
We're in the early stages, but we were asked to head down to Washington DC in a couple of weeks to meet with the good people of CIVIC. (The organization that Marla Ruzicka started before she was killed in Iraq.)
If you're new here... I simply talking about doing a benefit concert to raise as much money as we can to get direct help and medical aid to the innocent civilians who are being hurt so badly every day in Iraq.
Here... click on this link to kinda catch up.
Then, do me a huge favor. Start passing the word on to everyone you know!
If your experience is at all like mine so far, you might be really moved by the look you'll see in their eyes when you explain who it is you want to help and why.
There seems to be a feeling among so many good people in my life that this is something that must be done. I see it in the shining eyes of the "People on the Hill" in Central Park when I tell them about this project. It feels good to see that many people gently nodding their heads. So, pass the word.
(You also might get a vacant stare or a few invective comments, depending on the kind of person you are talking to. But, don't let that throw you. These innocent people in Iraq need our help... period.) Also, you might get a line or two about this war in Iraq from people who really don't "get it". That's cool, too. Don't argue with them. Just ask them if they wanna help these people who are suffering so terribly. That's all. They are invited, too, if they wanna help and do some good. Don't get into the politics of the whole thing, or the way we were brought to this. ('Cause over the past couple of years, I'm also finding that many people wouldn't admit the Truth about that if it hit 'em in the face with a shovel! And besides, they'll tell you until they are blue in the face that you don't understand either.) This isn't about debate, politics or choosing sides. This is about simply admitting a stark reality of the situation... now! And, getting help to the people whose lives are being destroyed... every day... today... right now. Everybody's gotta pick a place to do some Good. This just happens to be where my friends and I feel we need to put our energy right now. As Americans, we accept responsibility for the nightmare these people are living. As feeling, thinking human beings we wanna do something?

So, just keep checking back and I'll let you know more about it as it progresses.
Anyway, see you soon. Maybe I'll stop in the "Forum" later. It's open to everyone.
Thanks again.
