Springtime in New York... it's definitely workin' for me. Thanks for stopping by the site today.

Got a busy day today. But, it's all good. I plan to be out in Central Park for the first official day of the new season... this Saturday. So, I've gotta work with a new piece of equipment I plan to bring out there this summer. It's an effects pedal that I hope will make some of the newer songs sound... um... better. It might be a subtle change and maybe some people won't even notice it. But, I have a feeling this is gonna be a really special year at our outdoor concerts. I want the music to sound as good as it can sound.

I'm still writing, and I've gonna bring several new songs that I've written over the winter. I hope the crowd likes 'em.

You Don't Know
Reality TV
I Was You
I Love the Company
Internet Angel

...others.

And, like I said, I also wanna bring a whole lot more tunes out there by female artists.... Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow... others. Gotta work on a few more.

Y'know, I don't play golf. Never played golf in my life. (Well, miniature golf... but, the windmill pisses me off.) Anyway, I read something this morning that made me kinda smile. It said, "Most men and women who play golf, work harder on their golf game than they do on a particular project at their jobs... but, they don't know it's work, because they love playing golf."

People who get to work really hard at what they love... are very lucky people. I'm a very lucky man.

I have some sad news to report...

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person which almost went almost unnoticed last week. Larry La Prise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey" died peacefully at age 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. Then the trouble began...

Sorry...

Today, I also wanna get in touch with that guy from "The Hill" who gets up and sings sometimes... that guy you've all come to know, David Marcus. I wanna run a couple of new tunes that I've written. Maybe we can find a place to throw some harmonies on them.

I think, maybe by this fall, it will be time to get into the studio for the next CD. I'll keep writing. And, we'll see how the new stuff plays this summer. I don't know. I'm sooooo makin' this up as I go along!

Listen... I know there are people reading this from all over the country, and a few from around the world. If you get a chance, try to come to New York City this summer and hang with the people of this town in Central Park, at least once. If you can't make it, try checking in here everyday. I'm gonna keep updating this page with a little something new every day. And, pass the web address to your friends, okay? James Marino has built this amazing website, and it's only gonna get better. Oh yeah, and if you're new here, go back through the "Archives" and see what's been going on. (There was an update from Monday, April 25th that got passed around and linked to people all over the country. It was good to see.

The "Forum" (message board) over there on the right is for YOU! You can go in there and talk about whatever you want... music, movies, politics, sex, life... whatever.

I'm using it partially as a place to remain true to my commitment to keep a certain level of awareness alive. There will always be a thread in there about News from Iraq. Please take a minute to read some stuff in there, okay? People are beginning to contribute really informative and important stuff. But, as a human being, you hafta care enough to read through some of it, or it's just another thing to be ignored.

Anyway, whatever you're doing, I hope you really enjoy this beautiful Spring day in the Big Apple.

See you soon.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
