Rain... how many songs have been written about rain.

Peter Gabriel... Prince... Bob Dylan... Green Day... James Taylor... every artist on earth has writen a song about rain.

Funny... don't believe I've written a song about rain, yet. This might be the week to do it.

Anyway, listen... I know there are alot of people reading this across the country and around the world. But, if you live in or around the Big Apple, I'm hoping to be out in Central Park again this coming Saturday. (Depending on the weather, of course.) Last Saturday was great, and I have a feeling these summer afternoons of music in the park are gonna be something really special this year. But, y'know I've also received emails over the past few weeks from people who were unhappy about the switch from Sundays to Saturdays. Well, hang on, I'm talking to a friend who's trying to arrange something for music on Sunday afternoons over in Riverside Park. That would be really cool. We'll see what happens.

Also remember, Dodger will be joining me when the Friday night "Sunset Concert Series" starts in two weeks on the Christopher Street Pier in the Village. Keep checking back.

And listen, I know it's not what the Weather Channel is saying right now, but maybe this weather system will move out by the end of the week, and we'll be singin' in Central Park this Saturday.

I also just wanna let you all know... the decision has been made.

I am going to do some kind of concert to raise awareness and money for the innocent civilian men, women and especially the children in Iraq who are suffering horribly because of this war we started there. I think the project will be called something like "Ordinary People... Helping Ordinary People".

Now, I don't give a rat's ass who you voted for in the last election. This will not be a political event. These people need our help... desperately... period. These are ordinary people, fathers and sons, mothers and daughters... children... who are being killed, wounded and are suffering terribly in a place racked with fear and violence. And, they are being ignored by this administration, the military, and for the most part, the American media. (When asked about civilian deaths as the result of our invasion, General Tommy Franks said, "We don't do body counts.") But, as American citizens, they are our responsibility. Hell! If we are feeling, thinking human beings, they are our responsibility. Now, yes... I know there are people suffering everywhere, and we are so lucky to be ordinary people living in the places in which we live. Soooo lucky.

But, y'know? Y'hafta pick your spots. Y'hafta pick the spot where you think you can do some Good. This year, I'm choosing to put my time, effort and music into helping these people.

And, I have many good, good friends, old and new, who feel the same way. I hope to make many more good friends through this effort.

So, in the coming weeks and months, I'm gonna be asking for alot of help from ordinary people like myself. People like... um... you.

Y'know what?

Here... click on this link:

EVERYTHING YOU WANNA KNOW ABOUT THE CONCERT...

...so far.

Congratulations! (If you just read that entire page, I have a feeling you are way ahead of most people in his country in the "Caring" department!)

Anyway, even though we are in the early stages of this effort, I'd welcome any thoughts and feelings on a project like this. You can email me if you wanna help. You can tell the world what you think about all this in the "Forum" (message board) if you want.

By the way... you can use that "Forum" to talk about whatever you want... music, Love, sex, world events... whatever. Just be cool.

Anyway, it's a rainy day. Maybe I'll see you in the "Forum" later.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
