Yeah... we got out to "The Hill" this weekend. Man! It felt good to get my guitar on my shoulder and hang out with you guys, making music in Central Park. It was the first Saturday afternoon concert, and... man! We had a good time. Balance, baby, balance! Love songs. Fun songs. Songs about somethin'. Songs about nothin'!
But, y'know... since I announced the switch to Saturdays, I've gotten a bunch of emails from some people who won't be enjoying Saturday afternoons with me this year because they happen to be Jewish folks who observe their Sabbath. I think maybe you guys oughta all get together ask the Parks Department if there is a nice spot, maybe in Riverside Park, where I could bring my music on Sunday afternoons... even if just for a few hours. Actually, there's an outdoor restaurant/grill around 105th Street in the park called "Hudson Beach". (It's run by an outfit called P.D. Hurley's). Maybe they'd wanna do something on a Sunday afternoon. Just a thought.
What d'ya think?
Anyway... Saturday was great. If you were out there... THANKS!
Listen, as I said yesterday, I think it would be a cool thing if some of you bring your digital cameras to the park on Saturday afternoons, take pictures of your friends and some of the fun stuff that goes on, and then email them to me early in the week. I'll put some of them on this site during the week, okay?

On Saturday, I played some of the new songs I've written over the winter....
You Don't Know
I Love the Company
Internet Angel
Reality TV
...but, I forgot to play one new tune that I really like.
I Was You
(Next weekend, okay?)
Y'know, we also added a bunch of new people to the emailing list this weekend. If you're new here, go check out the "Forum" (message board) and say "Hi". Talk about whatever you want... music, Love, sex, movies, world events... whatever.
In there, I've been updating the "New from Iraq" becasue I feel it's important. If you go through the "Archives" and click on April 25th, you'll find a piece I wrote about Marla Ruzicka and the organization she started called CIVIC. The sole purpose of CIVIC is to help the civilian men, women and children who are being caught in the crossfire of this nightmare of a WAR we started on the other side of our planet... innocent people who are being killed, injured, burned, maimed... children who are being orphaned everyday... and, generally ignored by the U.S. government and much of the American public.
Yesterday, I called several people with good hearts and wonderful minds... James Marino, Sid Bernstein, Dennis Riley and others, to begin arranging a benefit concert in a few months, or something, to help these people. I want very much to form a circle of artists and friends who really want to do something positive... something to help... in the face of all the destruction, death, ignorance and apathy that surrounds this war.
Again... what 'dya think? Wanna help?
Y'know? Think about it. If we woke up in this country and turned on the news, every day, and saw that a car bomb went off downtown in Chelsea... and, then a little later another went off in Jersey City. And, then 55 people were found shot dead in Stanford, Connecticut. Then another car bomb went off on the Upper Eastside and children were killed and hurt... and, on and on. And, then we woke up the next day and saw the same damned thing... and, the next day... hundreds of bombs exploding all over Manhattan... and, this went on for 3 YEARS!
I don't think we'd be ignoring the children and the thousands of people being killed.
In this immoral and unAmerican war... 1,622 American military men and women have been killed. But, no one in this administration is even keeping track of the civilians who've lost their lives and who's lives are being destroyed every day.
Maybe we... the ordinary people... can do something. Let's do something positive... something to help, okay?
Check back here at this website every day and I'll keep you informed on what we come up with, okay? Maybe it will be something small... maybe it will be something huge. But, it will be... I don't know... something.
Let me know what you think in the "Forum" if you feel like it.
Listen, we're gonna have a lot of laughs and really good times in the park this summer. I can feel it. I'm gonna make a lot of music. Dodger's gonna join me on the Pier in Hudson River Park for the "Sunset Concert Series" again this year. It's gonna be great! But, we can feel good about working toward doing some good for someone at the same time.
Balance.
Thanks again.
