What d'ya think?

Not lookin' real good for tomorrow. They're talkin' about rain, a real soaker, and a high of only around 62. But, Sunday's lookin' a whole lot better. So, maybe I'll plan on heading out on Sunday. Y'know, if it's a picture perfect day on Sunday, maybe I'll head out to Central Park.

Or, maybe just hold off 'til next weekend.

We'll play it by ear. It's always a little shaky in the beginning of the season.

Anyway, how're you doin' today?

I've gotta lotta music to work through today, and I'm still editting that songlist from last year. I've also gotta double check all my equipment for the park... back everything up. Over the winter, I made a subtle technical change to the way I'm gonna do things by The Lake. It might take a few weekends to iron out the bugs. Or, it'll just fly. We'll see.

Like I said yesterday... I can't wait to play some new songs I've written over the winter.

"I Was You"
"I Love the Company"
"JesusLand"
"Reality TV"
"Internet Angel"
"You Don't Know"

...and others.

I'm kicking around cool tunes like Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive", and "Look What You've Done" by Jet... stuff like that.

Also made a commitment to play more stuff by female artists... either written by, or performed by female artists. Resurrect a few that I haven't done in a while. Y'know, songs like "One of Us" by Joan Osborne. "Louise" by Bonnie Raitt. (Okay. Old, blues legend Mance Lipscomb wrote it, but she sang the shit out of it.)

Anyway, it's gonna be a fun summer. I love makin' music. But, y'know, in the past couple of years, music has been even more important in my life. I'm able to throw my heart and my soul into writing and playing, and it's kept me whole in so many ways. It's given me a place to put my deepst feelings and subtlest thoughts. It's given me a way to give voice to the hope I feel every day... the Love I feel... as well as giving me a place to put some of the heartache and anger. And, it's given me a way to have alotta good laughs.

And, as soon as the weather is right, I'll get to share all of it once more with anyone who cares to hang out, and share a little of their time with me.

Very cool.

Hey listen... I'm still updating News from Iraq in the "Forum" (message boards) Hell! Somebody's got to! But, there are a lot of different topics going on in there... from people's dreams, to favorite lyrics, to song suggestions... all kindsa stuff.

I just made a commitment to myself not to drop the ball when it comes to some of the things I feel are really important. Y'know, it seems the attention span of many people in this country is frighteningly short... especially those on the conservative-right. This is not a time for anger... but is is a time for awareness.

Awareness.

Something the Bush administration and their supporters abhor, and will do everything to quash. If people were really aware, they might even notice that last night, the man in the oval office had a hard time constructing a coherent sentence again, and made up another new word... "abscribe" ...on national television. Well, in some small way... as an American songwriter, I'm gonna stay on it. Kinda comes with the job description if you ask me.

.

Q: How many Bush Administration officials does it take to screw in a light bulb?

A: None. There is nothing wrong with the light bulb; its conditions are improving every day. Any reports of it's lack of incandescence are a delusional spin from the liberal media and high-minded, loud-mouth musicians. That light bulb has served honorably, and anything you say undermines the lighting effect. Why do you hate freedom?

.

Listen, whatever you're doing... have fun today. Be cool to each othher, okay? Read something.

Maybe I'll see you in the "Forum" later today.

Who knows?

Maybe I'll see you in Central Park this weekend!

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
