Oh man! 70 degrees in Central Park today.
AHHHHH!
Damned fence is still up around "The Hill".
S'okay... we'll be out there soon. Hey! Right up front... again. April 22, Friday night... make plans, right now,to come to the SPRING CONCERT at CAMI HALL on West 57th Street. That will be a way to kick off the new season. (And, I spoke with Roger "Dodger" Bartlett this week. He's gonna join me on stage for that gig.) It's gonna be fun. Don't miss it. More about that a little later.
Central Park... playing music in Central Park. Just heading out there on a beautiful weekend and watching you guys gather on that little hill, spontaneously, to hang out with each other in the middle of the greatest city in the world. I hafta say it here again... because I want you to know that I never lose sight of it.
I'm the luckiest man alive.
It's such a very cool thing.

Y'know, anyone who knows me even a little knows how much I love this town. And, I would think it's a typically cool New-York-thing that there even is such a thing as a "Guitar Man from Central Park". (It just fuckin' blows me away that it's me!)
Listen, whatever you're doing today... get out there and enjoy this town if you have the chance. I'll be seeing you in the park soon enough. And, we're still working out the "Sunset Concert Series" with Hudson River Park people. Maybe we'll do it on Friday nights this summer.
And, yeah... about the concert at Columbia Artists (CAMI) Hall in 2 weeks. It's a Friday night, so you can plan to make a night of it with your friends. Or, y'know, come by yourself and have a blast. (Lotsa people do.) You can reserve a place right now by putting your name on the list that they keep at the door. (CAMI only seats 200 people.) All you hafta do is click on that thing over there on the right, under the poster that says "Add to Cart". Then, walk up the night of the concert and say your name at the door.
Anyway... listen, I'm headin' out. Maybe I'll head over to Central Park today, find a tree to sit under, and work on a few lyrics I'm trying to hammer out. God! What a beautiful day!
Oh... and, just so I stay true to something that I feel is also part of being a folk/rock musician and caring, feeling citizen of the world...
12 more American kids were killed in the fighting in Iraq this week. 1,546 since Geroge W. Bush began this war. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians. It's estimated that over 200 Iraqi police were killed in the fighting last month alone. I just thought I'd mention it, since CNN, Fox, MSNBC and most Americans were watching Princess Charles' wedding yesterday, and the week before they were watching an old man...um... lay very still and hold his breath. And, the week before that they were watching a woman in her private hospital bed. Disgraceful.
And, I mention it because I wonder where all the loud-mouth, blow hard, world-visionary conservatives who were shouting so loudly about "honoring" our troops have gone.
Phonies.
But, listen... in the Forum here on this website, I'll keep posting news from Iraq.... only because, y'know, we're still a nation at WAR. And, we were lied to about this war at the start and it's wrong today.
(I hafta laugh, though. There was a guy one time in the Forum who is a staunch Republican Conservative, and when I asked if they felt like they had anything to be embarrassed about, he said no.)
I disagree. We all do.
But, we also have so much to be grateful for. And, a day like this in New York City is a thing of beauty and a spectacular gift. So, I'm getting out there and enjoying it. Maybe I'll see you in the park or on the street today. If you see me... say "Hi", okay?
Springtime on New York!
Hope I see you at CAMI HALL.
Thanks for everything.
