New Songs... New Day...

If you've ever been to "The Hill" in Central Park when I'm singing there, you may have noticed that there is no schedule or setlist... no structure of any kind. We just hang out and make it up as we go along. But, have you ever noticed that at my feet, by the base of the mike stand, there is a sheet of paper in a plastic sleeve?

Well, on that sheet of papaer, years ago I just wrote down hundreds of title to songs that I could think of... songs that I really like playing, stories I really like telling. I use it just as a little quick-reference, y'know, when I finish a song and ask, "What d'ya wanna do now?" ...if nobody comes up with anything, and nothing springs to mind. I glance down at that sheet and a song usually pops out at me.

Thing is, I decided this year that I'm gonna keep a new list of songs. I was talking to a good friend the other day, and I mentioned that I'm spending these few weeks working on a whole lotta new songs and adding them to that list. I also wanna weed through some of the older cover tunes that I lean on. They are great songs, but I've been playing them a lot over the last few years. So, I'll remove them from my sight-line, and have a whole new quick-reference list.

I've also written several new songs over the winter.

"I Was You"
"I Love the Company"
"JesusLand"
"Reality TV"
"Interent Angel"
"You Don't Know"

...and others.

I'm kicking around cool tunes like Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive", and "Look What You've Done" by Jet... stuff like that.

Also made a commitment to play more stuff by female artists... either written by, or performed by female artists. And, that's been a lotta fun.

So, all-in-all I'm gearing up for a great summer in Central Park. Really excited to get my guitar on my shoulder and hang in the Sun by the Lake with you guys.

I also noticed in the "Forum" that James posted the lyrics to a great song by the Thorns called "No Blue Sky". I'll be singing that tune and several songs by those guys this summer. I also plan to sing a lot of songs off my older albums... "People on the Hill" and "It's Just Us".

Of course... all the stuff from "Crazy on the Same Day" and "Commmon Ground", too.

We'll be out there soon.

Hey, listen thanks for passing the link to this website to your friends around the country. We're getting visitors from all over... and all around the world. Make sure you invite them to look through the "Archives" and into the "Forum" (message board) to say "Hi" if they feel like it. There are always some fun things going on in there, and some things I feel are important. And, I will also keep posting News from Iraq in there.

(Hell... somebody's got to!)

Oh yeah... and here's your FREE song to pass around, too.

MP3 of Jesusland! Click to download or play.

I'll see you all soon.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
