HAPPY PI DAY!

HAPPY PI DAY!

.

Now this is coming from someone who is more mathematically challenged than almost any other person you've ever met! (I didn't know how to do long division the day after they taught it.) Good thing I write songs for a living!

But, a good, good friend of ours, named Phyllis, noted in the "Forum" today that today (3.14) represents the number pi... I guess the ultimate representation of humankind's search for perfection in a circle.

Of course... there are no perfect circles in the material world or nature, so I'm not sure the number has a practical purpose, except to fill a simple mind like mine with wonder. (And, make me have to go through school cheating off Kenny Laub's paper.) Someone can correct me if I'm wrong about this... but, I don't believe even the greatest intellects on the planet know where pi actually ends or if it does. So, once again... take that, intellect!

Now, myself... as an artist and as a man... I have personally experienced glimpses of a perfect circle. But, those moments are fleeting and wonderful and cannot be put into numbers or words. Whenever I try, I usually come up with something kinda cool, but woefully inadequate like...

"I guess we're just damn lucky that it works that way.
And, thank heaven we're not all crazy... on the same day."

Anyway... today... Happy pi Day.

Enjoy the circle.

(whisper) I'm gonna try to catch another glimpse of it, today.

Quick business... again, this website and our afternoons in Central Park are a whole lot like PBS or NPR. Y'know? Kinda "Member Supported". (Even though there are no real members. "It's just us.") But, if you dig coming to this website and going out to "The Hill" in Central Park, and you wanna help support both of those things with some dollars... we're doing the annual, y'know, PBS-type thing.

So, only if you feel like it and can afford it, you can go ahead and click on that PayPal thing up there AT THE TOP OF THIS PAGE, and donate something. (But, if you can't or don't want to, don't feel bad. Just keep showing up, okay?)

Here's something absolutely FOR FREE!

Give a listen to the new song "JesusLand". If you feel like it you can download it for yourself and pass it on to all your friends. I want the whole country to have it... for FREE!

Here.

MP3 of Jesusland! Click to download or play.

I had a lot of fun writing this song, and I've really enjoyed all of the feedback I'm getting about it. The positive messages are fun, and the negative emails are often even more amusing. Keep 'em coming. Actually, the song is available for sale on iTunes. But, you get it for free by coming to this website.

Maybe I'll see you in the "Forum" later today.

Thanks to everybody who's already helped out with the "Permit Fund Drive". You know who you are... and, so do I.

"It's just us."

Thanks again.

All outdoor events are weather permitting! Stop by the website before you go if it is questionable.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
- Dean
