Thanks for stopping by today.
Okay... um... well... oh, okay.
Let's have a CONCERT TONIGHT!
It's just us.
I wanna remind you again that this gig is being recorded by a wonderful songwriter in his own right, named Brendan Davies. It will be used as a Podcast and will be part of a proposed satellite radio show that Frank Beacham is gonna pitch. So, if you're in the audience, you will be a part of the show. Kinda cool.
CAMI HALL, 165 West 57th Street... 7:30
Now, listen, if you're reading this and you're coming to the concert, you might hafta help the other people out who are NOT reading this. Okay? Give 'em a hand before the show. (Y'know? Be the cool "Hill People" you are and look out for each other.)
Y'see, the doors to the theater will open at 7:15. But, there really is a VERY limited waiting area in the lobby for the amount of people the theater holds. (But, here's a secret.) The theater is on the second floor. So, you guys can hang in the stairs leading up to the theater if you want. Just tell everytbody to hang and be cool. And, the music will start no later than 7:45, okay?
Y'know, I'm always making things up as I go along. So, exactly what tonight is gonna feel like is still a mystery until I walk out on the stage and see you guys. But, I do know this. When I'm in a room full of wonderful people and I have a guitar on my shoulder... at that moment I know I'm exactly where I should be.
Been cold here in New York City. Got a little case of Spring Fever, have you? Yeah... me too. I always get this way in March. I catch myself looking ahead to Spring. But, y'know what my mother used to say?
I remember when I was a kid, and in November I would ask, "How long 'til Christmas!? How many days!?"
"Christmas will be here in 30 days", she might say.
And, I'd probably say something like, "I wish it was here in ONE DAY!"
I remember one time, she looked down at me and said, "It will get here, David. It always has. But, the next 30 days of your life will never come again. So, don't wish your life away, no matter what the reason. Every day is special, DJ. And, Christmas will be here very, very soon."
Funny, I always think of that when I'm anxious for something that's coming up.
Even Spring.
So, I'll enjoy this cold, cold Friday... and, then we'll have some fun tonight. I hope you can make it!
I'm gonna do all kindsa songs. We'll talk about stuff. I don't know. We'll see how it feels.
I'm definitely gonna do "Crazy on the Same Day" and some stuff from the very first few CDs. I'm gonna do stuff from the new album, "Common Ground". And, I'm definitely gonna do the new song "JesusLand".
I got to play it when I was a guest on a national radio show the other night. Already got some email rollin' in. The vast majority of it enthusiastically positive. Couple of pissed off people... but... y'know... what the hell. That's the nature of it.
I like the song.
I want you to have it for FREE. I want the whole country to have it for free.
Here.
MP3 of Jesusland! Click to download or play.
It's FREE. And, even if you're one of the people who gets pissed off at it, I wanna hear from you. It's gotten some other national radio play already, (Air America) ...but, you guys should be sending this free link around the internet to all your friends.
Listen, again... the "Forum" (message board) is for everyone to talk about whatever's on your mind. EVERYBODY is welcome in there, as long as you're cool to each other. If you're reading this and you live in another part of the country or another part of the world... welcome.
Take a look through the "Archives" and see what we've been up to around here. Listen, I gotta run right now. But, maybe I'll poke my head inside the "Forum" this afternoon. And, I look forward to seeing you all tonight at CAMI HALL.
Thanks again.
