Yeah... a little Spring Fever, in the snow. You guys all have a great 3-day weekend?

Okay, here's the gig about CAMI Hall.

I'm planning to do a whole bunch of songs we can ALL sing together, like always. I'm also gonna do a bunch of songs that I've written recently that have made a little noise among people who would rather I... um... y'know... do other songs. (It's really kinda funny, though. Most people who have problems with some of my newer stuff I'm writing... I don't think they really listen to or really think about the lyrics. But, that's another story.)

Anyway... I'm trying to work out the details today, but we're gonna RECORD the concert for inclusion in a proposed satellite radio show. If you're there, YOU WILL BE A PART OF THE SHOW.

Y'know, maybe we'll get a few remarks from the audience... maybe we'll do a little unofficial polling... maybe we'll just sing together. But, we will have a lot of laughs. (We always do.)

In the meantime, here's one of the new songs I'm talking about. Why don't you settle in, turn up the speakers on your computer, and click on this link! It's JesusLand!

MP3 of Jesusland! Click to download or play.

Have fun... and, send the link to as many people as you can today! Got an opinion about this song? Why don't you jump into the "Forum" over there for a few minutes and chime in on the conversation.

Okay?

So...

.

Well, just wanna make a few comments on some of the email I've been getting since "JesusLand" came out, and since it's gotten some national airplay.

Woo-hoo! Some people out there... uh... whew... just don't have a clue.

And, that's cool.

I kinda created JesusLand so that it was very easy to take the wrong way. I've often said, as a piece of satire, I was counting on people of a certain mindset... taking it the wrong way.

It worked. I'm proud of what the song says at it's core, I'm pleased that so mnay have reacted in such a "surface" manner. It illustrates to me how things have gotten to where they are in Washington D.C. and across this country. For me, besides just being fun, it was a project to see how easily people can be incited by the seemingly-obvious, while missing a basic point or central statement of the song. And so... I'm gonna write more. And, that's all I'm gonna say about that right now!

But remember, in America, SATIRE is protected speech... EVEN from those who "just don't get it."

Anyway... hope you guys all clear your calendar and make plans to come to CAMI Hall a week from Friday!

Oh yeah, but there's been a little confusion about this... when you reserve a spot for that concert, you don't get tickets in the physical sense. Instead, you're name is automatically placed on the "guest" list. So, all you hafta do is show up that night and give your name at the door. The seating is general admission.

Okay?

If I get a chance, maybe I'll see you in the "Forum" later today.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
