Thanks for stopping by today. If you're reading this in another part of the country, or another part of the world... welcome. Take a look around the site. We'll be importing the "Archives" from the last year or so very soon, so that you can go back and check out what we've been up to around here.

But, if you're in or around New York City, try to make plans with your friends to come to the next concert on March 4th. (I'll get into that later.)

You doin' okay today?

What? How am I feeling today?

Well, the English poet, Samuel Johnson, summed it up best for me.

Today I am feeling "the triumph of hope over experience."

Hoo boy. Experience. Half this country has elected a frat boy to the presidency, to front a very efficient and dangerous machine behind him. A man is being sworn into office, who's prime talent is lowering expectations and masking reality.

It's as if I said, "I'm gonna start working out and by the end of this month, I will be able to do 25 pushups." (I know very well that I can get down and do 50 right now.)

Experience. In 10 days, if 15% of the Iraqi's vote, this admistration will be declaring some kind of victory, while thousands continue to die.

My experience over the last 4 years?

Many, many good people are just gullible and fickle.

But, in my opinion, these People are simply not aware that their freedom is being threatened... and, not by the likes of Osama Bin Laden. (He doesn't "hate our freedom" as Bush has been fond of saying. No, rightly or wrongly, Bin Laden hates our foreign policy regarding Muslim nations. He doesn't give a shit about our freedom or how we live. That was just a part of the sell-job by these peoople in Washington.)

War, death, corporate greed, corruption, closed mindedness, social division, political polarization, religious zealotry, ignorance, arrogance, blind nationalism and intolerance... this the legacy of the first George W. Bush administration.

Can ANYBODY point to one thing that is better in the last 4 years?

Seriously.

One thing.

.

.

.

Well, I can. (At least for me.)

.

.

I have hope.

Listen... I'm an unashamed idealist and optimist. John Lennon said, "You may say I'm a dreamer. But, I'm not the only one." Personally, I've always had purpose. (That's personal.) But, now my music has an added purpose as well.

Y'see, in the last 4 years I've met the most amazing people. Really good, kind people. Intelligent people. I've looked inside my own heart and realized once again that change comes in the "one-person-size". I've looked at more of my own shortcomings, my own self centeredness and apathy, and have been inspired to write some kickin' songs that have something to say. I have truly begun to pay even more attention to the state of the world. Using whatever gifts I've been given, in whatever tiny way I can, one song at a time, one heart at a time, I have hope that music and little songs can contribute to making this world a slightly better place.

And, y'know what? I'm having fun doing it! It feels really good to feel like one of the Good Guys.

That's good stuff.

So...

Well, CAMI HALL is comin' up!

You can get tickets for that show by clicking on that thing right over there. March 4th is a FRIDAY NIGHT. Woo hoo!

I will be doing the new song "JesusLand" as well as all the tunes you guys love to sing to.

Oh man! Dodger and I had a great session yesterday in the studio and I think "JesusLand" will be in the can sometime early next week. Can't wait for you to hear it! Some of you heard it when it was a work in progress at the Songwriter's Circle in the Village, or at the Tsunami Relief gig on Avenue C.

But, I think you're reeeallly gonna dig what we've done with it, now!

Anyway... listen. Jump into the "Forum" if you feel like it. Like I always say, if you've got a problem with anything I write here, go into the "Forum" and speak up. If you agree with any thoughts and have something to add, speak up.

If you wanna talk about Love, Life, movies, music... anything at all... go on and speak up. That's what it's there for.

Maybe I'll see you in there later today.

Hope I see you at CAMI HALL on March 4th.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
