Great private gig last night!

Very cool. Y'know, it was one of those corporate things that always make me feel a little like a fish outta water. But, as the night went on, I began to recognize the faces of the people, even in their tuxedos and evening dresses, who were really diggin' the tunes. And, by 11:30, the room was singin' and dancin'. (Mostly singin'... loud!)

Very cool.

(I mean, as a musician, you haven't lived until you've inspired a whole room of executives and lawyers in tuxedos to sing "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Lola" at the top of their lungs.)

Lotta fun.

Got home late and caught the re-run of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He did a very cool play-by-play run down of the game between "Liberty" and "Freedom" in Bush's inaugural speech. (How many times he said each.)

Final score: Freedom - 27 Liberty - 15

(Kind of a blow out. But, of course, Liberty has been playing hurt since the Patriot Act.)

Another 4 years of this president. Hoo boy. I got work to do. Songs to write.

Okay... (Time for my new favorite question. Time for my new favorite graphic.)

So...

Well, for one thing, I've got a couple of demos to work on for a friend and colleague, to get them finished before the end of next week.

What else? Oh, yeah. The tickets for the concert at CAMI HALL on MARCH 4th are selling, so I'm really looking forward to seeing all you guys at that show. It's gonna be another good one. I can feel it. The spirit in New York City is starting to come back. (Maybe it's just me.) But I have a sense that, as we enjoy another New York City Winter and as Spring draws closer, we in this town are gonnna remember why we love this place so much. And that, even through that nightmarish election year of 2004 (RNC convention and all) we were reeeeallly more united as a people than most places in this country and on this planet.

Think about it. More than 8 out of 10 of your neighbors feel the same way about George W. Bush and the people behind him. Guess most New Yorkers don't dig being bullshitted, and can spot a phony from 3 city blocks away.

Cool.

Damn! I love this town!

Thanks for stopping by today. If you're reading this in another part of the country, or another part of the world... welcome. Take a look around the site. We'll be importing the "Archives" from the last year or so very soon, so that you can go back and check out what we've been up to around here.

But, if you're in or around New York City, try to make plans with your friends to come to the next concert on March 4th. (I'll get into that later.)

Got a call from Dodger today. Looks like we'll be mixing the new song "JesusLand" on Tuesday. Got a few more new songs I'm working on. Might have a bunch of new stuff for the next concert.

HEY! do me a favor, okay? If you visit this website regularly, would you pass the word on (pass the link actually) to at least one other friend today and ask them to check it out. This is what grassroots is all about.

YOU.

(Damn! ClearChannel owns everything BUT the internet, and Viacom and other corporations own the rest.)

So, spread the word and be sure to tell your friends they can speak up in the "Forum" any time they want, okay? (Y'see, after we debut one of the new songs on itunes, we might need a small army of you guys in the "Forum".) It'll be good if a bunch of people kinda become regulars again like last year. We may be getting a whole lot of visitors, mostly cool... some... um... uh... not-so-much. We'll see. I'll explain in a week or so.

Anyway... have fun today. Remember the "triumph of hope over experience". Maybe I'll see you in the Forum later.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
