Welcome back. Thanks for stopping by today.

If you live in New York City or near this town... did you enjoy the snow this weekend?

It's a new week and I'm gonna be in touch with "Dodger" later today to see if we are ready to mix the new song, "JesusLand". (But, more on that later.)

Got a lot of fun stuff coming up. Got the next concert all set for Friday night, March 4th, at CAMI Hall. Got a gig set up on the Eastside for Thursday, February 3. We're gonna have a blast. I always love the fact that, at these concerts, we laugh as much as we sing, and we sing a lot! Oh yeah, we have another SGA Songwriter's Circle comin' up in the Village in a week or so. (I LOVE sittin' in on those things!)

But, some things have sure changed around the ol' website. Many people don't like the change. Some do. Some did... for a while. But, it seems far many more have kinda retreated because they've burned out, become disillusioned or can't seem to care enough anymore to remain interested or vigilant about some things.

It's human nature. I never begrudge human nature. It just is what it is. Y'know... most among us would really rather watch something as mindless as "American Idol" or as funny as the "Simpsons" rather than CSPAN or PBS. Most people would much rather read a juicy novel than "Plan of Attack" by Bob Woodward.

Truthfully, I much more enjoy writing songs like "Crazy on the Same Day" and "Relax, It's Only Life" than "Where'dat Money Go" and "Tired of Being Lied To".

But, balance is important in my life these days. And, change is life as far as I'm concerned. So, the ol' website has changed a bit, and the focus of some of my music has changed , too.

But, to quote William Safire...

"When you're through changing... you're through."

(I can't believe I'm quoting Safire, but what the hell... it's true.)

Anyway, the point kinda being, I'm amazed at the drop off in the "Forum" (message board) since exactly TWO days after that election last year. We keep stats here at the website, and there has been a significant drop off in the people who come here to visit everyday. That's not a good thing. It's not a bad thing. It's like life. It's just what it is.

Sometimes, when you choose a path to walk, or as an artist, a path kinda chooses you... the people who walk along get fewer and fewer for a while. It's very cool. Over the last 13 years, I've seen the base of people who like to say they are among the "People on the Hill" turn over and change several times. And each time, it grows and becomes something more wonderful than it was before. And, the friends, colleagues and fans who stick around grow and change together. It amazes me, means more to me, and makes me more grateful than I could ever put into words here.

Okay... so...

Well... get ready for another free song. Another free download.

It's not just for you, though. When this thing is ready, if you choose to download this song for free, I'm only gonna ask (completely on the honor system) that you pass the link around to like 10 people each, okay?

Kinda like we did with "Get Out Our House". This one, though... hoo boy! Only jump on board if you're ready for a wild ride. I have a feeling about this one. I really do.

It's called...

JesusLand_3.jpg

And, I'm gonna be asking for your help to "grassroots" this song around the internet.

It is a song that comments on the hypocrisy of phonies like George W. Bush... but, it's easy to take the wrong way. (I'm kinda countin' on it!) It is also meant to be a comment on the erosion... no, not the erosion... the obliteration of the line between church and state this nation was founded on, and that our founding fathers were so passionate about.

I'll let you know more tomorrow, after I talk to Roger.

Maybe I'll see you in the "Forum" later. Hope I see you all at CAMI Hall on March 4th.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
