Thanks for stopping by.

What a week so far. Yesterday, I was at Roger's studio with Dodge and Nelson. We laid down Nelson's bass tracks, and three of my guitar tracks for the new song. Dodger's gonna be working on his own to get the lead stuff down... some pedal-steel-sounding fills on this one. This song has already been alotta fun to work on. Gonna head down there today to lay down the lead vocal track, and maybe a few harmonies, and then we'll be pretty well on the way to mixing the thing.

This song is going to be VERY easy to take the wrong way.

(I'm kinda countin' on it.)

We're gonna release it as a single first. Probably make it available as a FREE download to all of you who come to this website, y'know... for a little while before it goes to itunes.

It is one of those songs I've written that actually has three very specific, very separate purposes. (I'll get into that after the song is ready to debut, or maybe I won't. We'll see.)

Anyway... hey! The seats started selling yesterday for the March 4th Concert.

Thanks. We're gonna have a blast. (We always do.) Hope you can make it. you might wanna get your tickets today. There are only 170 seats in CAMI HALL.

So...

Damn! I really do love that question. It keeps me in the moment.

It's not like... "What happened?"

It's not like... "What's next?"

I love the question, "What now?"

There is much to do. Many songs to write. Many new people to meet. Many new songs to sing. But, I am the sum of the choices that I make in every single day, one day at a time. Somebody who was very wise once told me, "David, take care of today... and, tomorrow will take care of itself."

That is absolutely true.

I always like to say to myself, no matter what is going on in my life, "This is gonna be a memory. No stopping it. Once it's gone, it's a memory... clear or fuzzy, important or seemingly insignificant, it will be a memory. So, I might as well make it the best memory I can."

Works most of the time. Sometimes things suck. Sometimes I lose my way. Fuck, I'm human. I don't want a cure for that.

But, string ennough fascinating days together, enough days that are filled with wonder, internal adventure and outward fun... and, y'know what you get?

A fascinating and wonderful life.

Oh, yeah... listen.

If you're reading this in another part of the country, or another part of the world... welcome. Take a look around the site. We'll be importing the "Archives" from the last year or so very soon, so that you can go back and check out what we've been up to around here. Last year was a sincerely wild year.

But, if you're in or around New York City, try to make plans with your friends to come to the concert on March 4th. (We may add another show if this one sells out early. But, that's a little uncertain. So, try to get tickets soon, okay?)

Oh, this morning, before I headed to the studio, I was GLUED to CSPAN and the confirmation hearings of Condaleeza Rice. I watched 'em yesterday for a bit, too. What do you think of our inevitable Secretary of State? (That's what the "Forum" is for over there... among other things.)

For me, watching Barbara Boxer, Joe Biden and Republican Chuck Hagel confront that disingenuous, duplicitous woman gives me just a glimmer of hope that reason is not completely dead. Listen, I don't care what your politics are. If you're a New Yorker like me, you can see a phony from 3 city blocks away. (I see her comin' from 4.) Things in the news have gotten like Alice in Wonderland.

Think I'm a boring man who watches CSPAN and PBS?

Maybe. But, it actually fascinates me... because it's the real thing without Wolf Blitzer or Judy Woodruff getting in my face.

I urge you all to watch CSPAN, PBS... and, um... well, of course... The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. It's the only way to make sense of things.

Maybe I'll see you in the "Forum".

Let's have some fun.

Thanks again

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
