I hafta say, "Thanks" to everyone who showed up last night at the American Express Building. In a way, it's kind of a shame we didn't think of doing that sooner down there. I don't know, about half way through it last night I was picturing a whole lobby full of blankets and picnic baskets and people singing... and business people just happening by and saying, "whaaa?"
Anyway, if you were there, you know how much I appreciated you guys showing up... for alot of reasons.
Um, tonight... I'm back at The SoHo Playhouse. It's alot different than last night's thing, and a lot different than most things in New York. I really like the intimacy of the Playhouse nights. I'm probably gonna tell a few more stories, and play alot of songs I like... songs I love... songs I wish I wrote... and a bunch that I did write. (Some brand new ones, too.)
If you're new... here's the deal. It kicks off at 7:30... well, the doors open at 7:00, and there's a bar area where you guys can have a FREE drink and hang out. Then, the music starts at 7:30 upstairs in this 200 seat theater. Then, afterwards, you can all go back down stairs and hang out for a little while. It's really very cool. And, tonight... anybody who shows up is gonna get to bring home a FREE " That Guitar Man in SoHo" poster. (Or, 10 of 'em if you want.) We're gonna ask people to help us out, hanging them around town in their favorite diner, coffee shop, deli, bar or bookstore.... that kinda thing. But, I'm tellin' ya, the first couple of nights down there have been really fun... and, for weeknight, y'know, it's an early gig. Why not show up tonight. If you feel like it, come by yourself and make some new friends.
Also, just for the hell of it, find someone with a cable modem or DSL, if you don't have one yourself, and check out the very first installment of "David Radio" over there on the right. James has done another amazing thing. He really is riding the crest of the wave that is the future of the music business and the future for truly, independent artists like me.
Go to the button over there on the right... the one that says "David Radio". Click on the link, and then just hang out with me for an hour or so. It is our very own internet-radio broadcast. It might be a little rough around the edges this week, but next week it will be a four hour, continuous broadcast with interviews, (Hopefully with Sid Bernstein and David Friedman and James Marino and David Abramowitz and Roger Bartlett and others) ...and a whole lotta music.... stuff you've heard, stuff you've NEVER heard, and lost tracks. (Things you heard but you never thought you'd hear again.)
It's very cool.
E-mail us and let us know what you think.
And, maybe I'll see you at 6:30 or tonight. Really, don't miss out on what's going on down there this winter.
And, thanks again...
