Holy smokes!!!

WHAT A DAY!

No kidding…

For over 25 years I have been known in this town as “That Guitar Man from Central Park”. It keeps me in a constant state of gratitude, but every once in a while I need to say “Thank You” in a very real way. So about 20 years ago I started what became a little tradition… by scooping up a bunch of money in the guitar case and buying pizza for the “People on the Hill”. That eventually morphed into something I call…

HOT DOG DAY!

So that’s what we did this weekend! I mean, over the course of the afternoon a few thousand people gathered again on that little grassy hill to share music and laughs, stories and thoughts and feelings… hundreds of New Yorkers, and people from all across the country and different parts of the world were hangin’ out and singing together. Our photographer friends were out there again so I’ll be back this week with photos and maybe some video.

If YOU have any photos or video from this past Saturday, please shoot them to me on Facebook, okay?

https://www.facebook.com/david.thatguitarman

OH!!! By the way… I am raising money again for the “Permit Fund”. It’s just something I do every year if you feel like being a part of the gig and helping to take care of some of the overhead involved in getting out to Central Park on Saturdays throughout the summer. All of the permit fees are paid for… the Special Events Permits and the Sound Device Permits from the NYPD. But… if you think you would like to help out in that regard, every year I do a little something called the “Permit Fund”. (It’s only there if you can afford to help and if you feel like it.)

MAYBE WE’LL HAFTA REVIVE THIS SONG FOR THE SUMMER!!!

Remember… this is the first summer of “The Trump Nightmare”.

And thank YOU for showing up here today. If you’re new around here… WELCOME! If you don’t follow me on Facebook, go there now and then keep checking back.

It’s come to my attention that a lot of people are visiting this website for the first time, just because of a few other things that are happening in my Creative Life as an artist. So I just wanna welcome you…

I know. I know. For reasonable, sane people this is another tough week. But we’re in it together and we have work to do. Today I’m gonna share a feel good video from our “Year End Concert” at Merkin Concert Hall here in New York City last December.

First, the concert video…

Today, I find myself sitting on top of 3 incredible Creative projects that seem to be exploding into the world as I’m writing this: the new play “The Green Room” – the video for the song “Dreamers Like Me” – and the Creation of a NEW MUSICAL… which is the off-spring of the workshopped musical “Possibility Junkie”.

Here are a few images from the recent concert, captured by our photographers friends David Hayase and Sean Friedman.

I’m still living this Life with open arms and Love, but ZERO tolerance for people who voted for or continue to support the abomination that is Donald J Trump. As the song says, “I hope they feel like joining us someday.” but until that day, the rest of us have work to do!!!

ROCK ON!

We plan on releasing at least 2 different versions of this song..

Look at this day!!!

Head to Central Park!

Yeah, it’s gonna be a hot one. But that little hill is almost completely underneath big shady trees most of the day! Gonna be sweet.

I’VE GOT A LITTLE TRADITION I PULL OFF EVERY YEAR! Today is the day. If you’re in town, I hope I see you out there.

I’ll crank up around 1:00. But we’ll pull off this little tradition around 3:00 or 3:30. So try to get there by then!
Last Saturday the rain came at 3:00 — right in the middle of our day. So this weekend, I’m gonna do something I’ve done for the past couple of decades… just to say “thank you” to every single person who has ever spent one afternoon with me in Central Park.

Here’s a map to show you exactly where!

Got a feeling we’re gonna have another “typically amazing” day. It’s what usually happens. I mean, over the course of an afternoon a few thousand people gather on that little grassy hill to share music and laughs, stories and thoughts and feelings… hundreds of New Yorkers, and people from all across the country and different parts of the world. Often, DANCING BREAKS OUT!!! I mean… dancing spontaneously breaks out on the path, Pure joy. Now, I have been “That Guitar Man from Central Park” for over 25 years now. It’s something that continues to keep me in a nearly constant state of amazement and gratitude.

If YOU have any photos or video from this past Saturday, please shoot them to me on Facebook, okay?

Well…

WE TRIED.

Y’know? In my life experience, every time I’ve ever gotten wet… I’ve always gotten dry again.

We tried.

I headed out to Central Park and cranked up around 12:45 with a pretty good feeling the rain was gonna come at around 3:00. And right on cue, my pal Dean Love checked the radar at about 2:45, and looking south, the sky looked like night. So it was more quick version of “Tom Cruise Scares Me” and we packed up and ran for it. Got all of the equipment in the van just as it started to POUR. (A disappointing day, but pretty excellent timing.)

ON LONG HOLIDAY WEEKENDS I’VE GOT A LITTLE TRADITION I PULL OFF… BUT SINCE THE WEATHER DIDN’T COOPERATE, WE’LL DO IT NEXT SATURDAY INSTEAD.

Here’s a map to show you exactly where!

Last Saturday was another one of those days… those days that keep me in a nearly constant state of wonder and gratitude. No kidding. Our photographer friends, Sean Friedman and David Hayase were out there again with their cameras. So today we’ve got a few images they captured.

It’s something that continues to keep me in a nearly constant state of amazement and gratitude.

TODAY…

Gonna try my best…

Okay… keeping one eye on the sky and one eye on the radar this morning. I’m gonna try my best to get out to Central Park today. The forecast is lookin’ shaky but the radar is lookin’ okay right now. I’ll make the call as early as I can. Hoping for another typically amazing day. If you’re gonna be here in town I hope I see you out there. I’ll crank up around 1:00 and play until 5:00 or 6:00… or until I fall over.

Check back here around 10:30 or 11:00
